Wild (and Cheap) Week at Sea World 4/10-16

Yes, I know it’s not Disney, but this blog focuses on all things touristy in Orlando, and SeaWorld certainly fits the bill.

The National Wildlife Federation, in conjunction with its Keep The Wild Alive program, is joining with SeaWorld and Busch Gardens to spotlight conservation of endangered species at park locations across the country. A great cause, right? Well, this one will benefit your bank account as well. In Orlando, SeaWorld will be celebrating “One Wild Week” from April 10 to the 16th, the week prior to NWF’s National Wildlife Week. As part of the celebration, all kids 12 and under who come to the park dressed as a favorite animal will get in free (accompanied by an adult paying full price). Considering that a kid’s day pass is almost $65, that’s certainly worth dragging out the old Halloween costumes. And there’s more – park visitors will also receive a copy of NWF´s Keep the Wild Alive poster, which features 25 endangered species from around the world.
So head on down to SeaWorld, raise your consciousness – and don’t forget to say hi to Shamu.

Disney Salutes the Military With Free Tickets

Walt Disney World and the military. You can’t get more all-American than that!

This year (through December 23), Disney is showing its support for our armed services members by offering a fully-loaded “Disney Armed Forces Salute” five day ticket absolutely free. The ticket allows five days worth of entrance into the four theme parks, complete with hopping privileges, and includes the Water Parks and More option as well.

One free ticket per active or retired military personnel. Family and friends still get a deal, though – active and retired military are also able to make a one-time purchase of up to five “Disney Armed Forces Salute Companion” tickets. For $99, the ticket is good for one theme park per day for five days. Hopping and water park options can be added at the discounted price of $25 per option.

These specially priced tickets are only available at participating US Base ticket offices (including Shades of Green) or at the theme parks’ main entrance. Tip: pre-purchase your tickets on base, where you can buy tax-free!

New Price Break For Locals

If you live in the Sunshine State, you can get a specially-priced two-day ticket to the Disney theme parks – if you act now.

Between now and May 20, the Mouse is offering a two-day “Magic Your Way” ticket for just $99 an adult and $83 for kids 3-9. Some provisions, though: the tickets are good for one park a day (no hopping) and must be used within 14 days of purchase. The Easter vacation period – from April 4 through the 18 – is blacked-out, and the tickets expire on May 21 (so why would you buy it on May 20? Just askin’).

Disney Extends Buy 4 Get 3 Deal

Thought it was too late to book one of those great “buy four days, get three free” vacation deals at Walt Disney World? Guess again.

The promotion – which originally included dates through April – has now been extended to travel until 8/15. That’s right – the Mouse is hedging his bets even through the summer, traditionally the peak season for the parks. Of course, there are caveats: you must purchase a non-discounted four night, four day stay package, including park tickets, in select WDW resorts. But hey, you get to add three extra days – and the park tix are included!

If you planned a summer trip, here’s your chance to stay a week – for the cost of days. Book this great deal with your travel agent or online, but remember rooms go fast, and you need to book before March 29.

Is Today Your Birthday? Mickey Wants to Celebrate!

It’s not my birthday….that’s next month. But it’s Lincoln’s. And maybe it’s yours as well.

Whenever your birthday is, that’s the time to celebrate with a visit to Disney World because (as you’ve probably heard in a million commercials) this year you can celebrate your birthday in Disney for free!

The details – you have to be at the Disney park of your choice (sorry, just one) on your actual date of birth. And you need to register your birthday first, so no celebrating a birthday every other month (believe me, we age quickly enough as it is!).
